The Fishing School Tournament

Part One - The First Step

The Nations Capitol Bass Federation and Charity Works holds tournament to benefit The Fishing School in Washington D.C. Kids From the Fishing School will be paired with a CEO and Boat Captain for the tournament. First place for the CEO will be a brand new Hummer. But first the kids needed a few lessons.

Pictured above Brian and Jim are teaching lure selection, knot tying and a few of the other basics. Below Brian, Jim, Mike and Alan are teaching the art of casting. The kids are checking out the Hummer that will be won.

Event Day

As President of the Nations Capitol Bass Federation I want to thank Charity Work for allowing us to be such a big part of this Event. I am told that we raised over $250.000.00 and are expected to reach close to $1,000,000.00 after the Gala on September 20th. I want to thank all the boat captains, Ranger Boats for their title sponsorship and Ron Enslen for all his hard work through the whole tournament. These type of fund raisers don't happen without sponsors like 7-UP, Plano, Mercury, FLW Tours and all the corporations that come up with money and product. I want to thank Mayor Williams for coming out so early and kicking off the event. The coverage provided by Jim Vance and Channel 4, channel 7 and channel 9 gave the event exposure that was needed and well received. Thanks to everyone that made this possible. You may well have been part of the BASS event of the year!                   Here are a few of the pictures from the day of the event.

I want to say a special thanks to one of our members that gave a lot more than time and money to this project. Brian Lancaster received an "Outstanding Volunteer" award from Charity Works for all his hard work on bringing this event to life. Debbie Muth, Alan Mullis and Nations Capitol Bass Federation also received plaques for "Outstanding Volunteers".

Alan, I just wanted to send you a quick note thanking you and all the members
of the NCBF for making the Charity Works Bass Tournament to benefit The
Fishing School such a success. Without all the NCBF members pulling together the tx
just could not have happened. The members made it a seamless event and all of
them should be proud that they help a cause that will really make good use of
the money they received. The kids and corporate participants had a great time
and many of them have called me to say thanks. Events like this is truly what
the NCBF was formed to do and now everyone can see that they are doing what
they said they would do. Please pass along my thanks to the rest of the
membership.

Thanks Brian
