State Team Finances: The 2006 State team fished the Naticoke River last month. The team came in 6th and $1200 was added to the Treasury. The hotel expenses totaled $3080.25. The Team members absorbed all the other cost to participate in this year’s event including shirts, hats, fuel, and food.

New Business:

Web Page Expenses: Bruce Jones has submitted a bill for the 2007. The Treasurer will forward a check for $120.

2008 Schedule Items:

1.      Timonium Expo will start on January 11, 2008 through the 13th. We will have the trout pond in place.

2.      Montgomery County Fair will start on August 8, 2008 and end on August 16th. These two events will be primary fund raisers for the Federation.

3.      The tournament committee will meet to select the dates for the 2008 three Qualifying events. The selection process will include the two Open tournaments. A discussion included an Open just for NCBF members in the spring of 2008. This would give all members a chance to compete as boat partners.

4.      Danny Shanz and Pete O’Donnell will fish the National Tournament on Lake Wylie in Charlotte , N.C. , April 22, 2008 through the 28th. They are the NCBF Champions from the Mid Atlantic Divisional on the Naticoke River .

Mid Atlantic Divisional 2012: The NCBF is scheduled to host the Mid Atlantic Regional tournament (seven states) in 2011 or 2012 if the Maryland TBF is not ready. This means we must pick the TX site, hotel for the state members, sponsors for the event (2 meals), and meeting rooms. This effort includes getting the D.C. Chamber of Commerce, the Mayor, Police, Armory and many other officials involved. (See item two below under President’s Meeting)

Ranger Boats: We have for the last 5 years been involved in their Awards program. When a member buys a Ranger boat, we earn $400 in Ranger dollars to purchase from the Ranger store. We have never collected on that award. Please ask the dealer for a voucher when you buy a Ranger. We are investigating whether we qualify if a member buys a sponsored boat or wins a boat.

President’s Meeting: All TBF Presidents, representing over 1600 clubs, will meet at the Nationals in Charlotte in April 2008. There are two issues we need to decide so that the NCBF President can vote the members wishes.

  1. NCBF has a boater and non boater policy that does not allow the non boater to operate the trolling motor. The TBF rules allow the non boater to have the trolling motor for one half the day if they so choose at any location, on the tournament water. The FLW rules are the same as ours. The NCBF members present today, had several questions and we will revisit this issue in January at our Membership Meeting.
  2. Should we allow TBF and FLW to come in and take over the entire program of coordinating the Divisional, except the selection of the water to be fished in the host state? (See Mid Atlantic Divisional 2012 above). The membership present today voted to let TBF take over.

Open Tournament: Should we have another Open Tournament in 2007? Those present thought the spring Open mentioned above could work better.

Member Highlight: Many of our members step to the plate when we need something done. Thanks start with the 2006 State Team. We, The NCBF have never done much to recognize these members so lets start here i.e., Danny stores our trailer, Anthony refurbished the insides, Wayne fabricated a cooling system for the trout pond, Bill talked to Criswell about a program, Arvelt, Ira and Mike Dodd always show up at our events, Nate and Marc with positive ideas, Ron and B.J. at the trout pond, Debbie and Nancy with a hundred plus kids, Alan Mullis for the work on the web page, and all of us when we have to put our money on the line to keep us up and running.

Our latest effort came from Wayne Ball. He approached and received a commitment from his employer for a $1500 award for the purchase of 2007-8 State Team shirts. He and Cedric are working on getting a state of the art cooler for the trout pond. These items will be in their company’s 2008 budget. Cedric and Wayne recommend we purchase shirts of one color to cut down on the confusion of which shirt to wear at events. In addition, they recommend buying good shirts rather shirts that winkle easily. Some of us look pretty bad when we pull our shirts out after a Tournament. Bo Curry volunteered to research the issue and coordinate the patches and labels with Becky Sisson.

Elections: The election of Officer’s process begins with this meeting. The President will send out nominating ballots after this meeting. Be prepared to talk to a member about serving on the Executive Board. You MUST get their permission to nominate them.

Divisional Waters for 2008:  Pennsylvania is the host state in 2008. They have not announced the tournament water for the 2007-2008 Mid Atlantic Divisional. Many Mid Atlantic states hope they select Lake Erie rather then Three Rivers in Pittsburgh .

Point System: After further discussion from all present, we agreed not to change the point system. It is the right of any member to bring a written proposal to the Board for presentation to the membership if changes are to be made in the future.

Tournaments: The last 2007 Open Tournament, October 7th had 5 boats.

Dues: The Treasurer proposed the NCBF raise annual dues to $100 from $75. This effort in intended to help place more funds in the treasury to pay for the kid’s membership at $5 each, the travel expenses for the NCBF representatives at the Nationals, and a host of other annual costs. The Board agreed to send the proposal to the membership for approval. The raising of dues was rather then raising tournament fees, which places the burden on the fishing members alone.

Flea Market: Mickey McCleary requested info on which location would allow us to hold a flea market. Several volunteered to track down a location.

Miscellaneous: Shirts, stitching, patches and NCBF/FLW/TBF Logos are provided by Becky Sisson @ 301-774-4503 or stitchnstuff@aol.com .  NCBF hats are available from Chuck Walker.

Meeting adjourned at 11:30 AM .

Respectfully Submitted,

Chuck Walker, President
