Location: The Nations Capitol Bass Federation (NCBF) meeting was held at the Montgomery County Police and Fireman’s Training Academy, located on Great Seneca Highway between Route 28 (Darnestown Rd.) and Key West Highway in Rockville, MD at 10:00 am.

Call to Order:  The meeting was called to order at 10:20 am .

Roll Call:  Executive Board and other members in attendance: Bo Curry, Chuck Hartzman, Tim Cameron, John Walsh, Shawn Ezerski, Alan Mullis, Greg Dice, Larry Dodd, Mickey McCleary, Melvin Fisher, Gerald Brooks, Nancy Martell-Stevenson.

Treasurer’s Report: Jim Kline was absent so there was no Treasury or Membership report.

Old Business

U.S. Park Service:  The Park Service has called us after an inquiry from Capitol Hill and will forward the $1000 back to our bank on or before April 15th. Keith Wright and Jim Kline will monitor this account until that time. If nothing has happened by this date, we will use our advocate in the U.S. Senate. If the money is transferred to our account, we will then move to closeout the account in Sandy Spring Bank and transfer the balance into the Chevy Chase bank account.

Trout Pond: Bo has been talking with the Montgomery County Fair Grounds people about setting up for the upcoming fair in August. More details need to be worked out before we move forward on this project. We also need to do the following on the pond:

-         Rebuild pond for better use (new liner, more lumber)

-         Rebuild the filtration system (Jim Kline and Mike McCarthy)

-         Rebuild/upgrade the aeration system (new pumps, etc.) (Wayne Ball)

-         Get signs made up to advertise

-         Have rods for pond use only (Mike McCarthy)

-         Pictures for the Show Booth (Bo Curry and Alan Mullis)

CastingKids Event(s): Our first CastingKids event at the Benjamin Murch Elementary School was a great success! NCBF member and teacher Nancy Martell-Stevenson had over 25 kids ready, willing and very excited to take part in the program. Pictures will be on the web.

Our second CastingKids event was held at the new Dick’s Sporting Goods store in Gaithersburg (formerly Galyan’s) on Sunday, March 20th. This was not an official CastingKids event, but it was still a success and an opportunity to train members on how to run an event. It also introduced the NCBF to Dick’s Sporting Goods management. They are very interested in hosting another event in the future. Bo will coordinate.

Another CastingKids event was held with Debbie Muth in La Plata , MD with 35 kids participating. Tentative dates for a future event at the Murch Elementary school are sometime in the fall during the annual school carnival/fair.

2004 State Team Standings: The team members are posted on the website. A new proposal will be presented during the May board meeting to address identifying the state team standings after each tournament/event.

Trailer Tags and NCBF Scales: Tim Cameron has purchased the new tags for the trailer and updated the registration address. He has also had the tournament scales recalibrated and cleaned, just in time for the upcoming season.

New Business

Maryland Bass Federation: The MBF has invited the NCBF and other surrounding states to participate in a Jr. Bassmaster Fishing Derby Tournament on the Potomac River on June 18th. Debbie Muth has agreed to enter six NCBF Jr. members in this tournament. We need boats. Chuck Hartzman has volunteered to be Team Captain. Each of you can enter your child into this tournament. Contact Debbie at (301) 934-1129 right away.

We need to do this to get our kids ready for the new Mid-Atlantic Regional in 2006.

Contact Chuck Hartzman at (301) 916-8244 to be a volunteer boat captain.

2005 Tournament Plaques: Jim Kline has ordered all the plaques for the 2005 tournament season and also for the 2003 and 2004 Angler of the Year plaques.

Laptop Computer: Bo Curry has the laptop and will have it loaded with the Tournament Program. The TX director and another member of the Tournament Committee will be trained on the program.

Park Permits: After discussion, it was determined the NCBF will not need to seek a permit to hold the tournament out of Leesylvania State Park . We will not require early opening nor will we have the number of participants to warrant a special permit.

The question remains whether we need a permit to bring our trailer for weigh-ins.

Weigh-In Slips: The Tournament Weigh-in form template has been sent to Kelly Press for design and printing.

Insurance for Official Events: All NCBF events requiring membership volunteers have been applied for and returned to the President by the insurance company.
