2-18-03 (moved to 2-25-03 due to
snow)
Trinity United
Methodist Church
Roll Call: Bo Curry, Larry Yates, Alan Mullis, Chuck Walker, Danny Shanz, Wayne
Wininger, Brian Lancaster, John Sisson, Dave Hamrick, Chuck Hartzman, John
Freeze, Mike Kenney, Keith Wright, Kevin Miller, Phil Bloom, Steve Chaney
Old Business:
Dues: As of today we have received dues from only 36
members. The NCBF has paid B.A.S.S. $15 for all members for 2003. The Secretary
and 1st Vice President will send reminders to all unpaid members.
501C3: Chuck has been talking to an accountant about this.
Danny Kelly said he could get us $5,000.00 if we get the 501C3 and Kevin Miller
said he could get us some grant money also.
Need to finish as soon as possible. Keith Wright and
Chuck Walker will take the lead on this.
Taxes: Chuck reported that any tax processing place such as
H&R block can complete the NCBF tax forms for federal and the District of
Columbia. Keith will file the prepared taxes.
Charter: It
is official. We now have our charter and four months early. Clubs wishing to
join the NCBF must write Al Smith at B.A.S.S. and the NCBF president a letter
telling why they want to want to change Federations. This is a matter of having
the club document their transfer from one state to another. All individuals are
welcome without going through this process.
All NCBF club Presidents please forward the 2003
rosters from B.A.S.S. to Dave Hamrick, NCBF Secretary. Dave’s address is 8029
Broken Reed Court, Frederick, Md., 21701.
D.C. Boat Show: The
NCBF thanks John Freeze for
coordinating the assignments of members to staff this project and doing a great
job with it. Even though the citizen turnout was poor due to the terrorist
alert, and the projected snow fall, our members stepped up to help the
executive board do a better job. Thanks John.
Web Site: Keith has been
working with Bo on the website.
Ira doing links – Dave and Keith to work on it.
Trout Pond: We need to get a committee started on building a
trout pond. It will save us money and also make us money. The pond will be
compartment zed for different uses to accommodate the size space available to
set up the pond.
New Business:
Show Booth: Ken Penrod offered his show booth
if we wanted it. He will give it to us at no charge. It can be used at those events
the NCBF sponsors and the D.C. Boat Show next year. Alan will call Ken to
accept.
Jr. State Team: John Britton gave me a packet for the NCBF to send a
kid’s team to Kerr. A package has been sent to Debbie Muth, NCBF’s Youth
Director. Debbie will review the information and report what the NCBF needs to
do for us to make that happen in 2003. Bo Curry is taking the lead on this.
Alan strongly stated that this effort to have a good Jr. State team will carry
over to the adult program. The committees must do their best to make this
happen.
State Team: Funding the two NCBF 2003 state team’s is a top
priority. A state team committee has been formed with some of the state team
members so reservations and other plans can be dealt with. Danny Shanz, the
NCBF state team captain will contact and organize both the Jr. and state teams.
Sportsman’s
Magazine: The new Sportsman’s Magazine will run an ad for the NCBF free. There is a
chance the ad will be in the March issue.
Article for BASS: We
have been contacted by Craig Lamb to send him information on our new charter
federation. Larry, Chuck and Alan worked on the article. The information has
been forwarded to Craig by Larry Yates.
Tournament
Committee: Tournament committee has lined
up everything for the first tournament. This will be a Lowrance sponsored
tournament. B.A.S.S.’s Federation Director, Al Smith will attend this event. We
will try to get Lawrence Burgees, Ira Palmer, D.C. Harbor Patrol, and others to
show we have made some contacts.
Larry Yates is making the motel reservations for Al
Smith and will ask Ken Penrod to fish with Al the day of the tournament.
The NCBF executive board will dine out with Al the
night before the tournament. The Executive Board will invite the launch
committee to the dinner.
The Tx committee will talk to the Park Service about
having all the banners displayed at this tournament. Chuck Walker will get the
Lowrance Banners from Ken Penrod. Debbie Muth will invite some kids there to
make a good appearance.
The first Tx on April 27th will launch at
the Anacostia Park.
Chuck Walker to contact DC youth clubs to show up
for the TX.
Divisional Awards: Bicentennial Bassmasters has won the Conservation,
Community Service, Public Relations, Youth and Chapter of the Year awards for
the Eastern Division. We wish them good luck with the National Awards Program.
I hope that some of the members will be going to the Nationals to accept a few
of the National Awards.
The NCBF is still collecting your old, about to be
sold, fishing equipment. The equipment will be given to those youth not having
any. Please call youth equipment collector, Chuck Hartzman at
301-916-8244.
Chuck Hartzman needs your expert help lining up NCBF
sponsorships.
April 26th Project Anacosita Clean up is
on again this year and it’s a good project to do your project commitment work.
And we do will need help. More
information will be posted on the web site, www.fishncbf.com.
