NCBF EXECUTIVE BOARD MEETING MINUTES

March 16, 2004

Location: The Nations Capitol Bass Federation Executive Board meeting was held at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Germantown, MD. This meeting is held on the 3rd Tuesday of each month.

Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 7:05 pm.

Roll Call:  Board members in attendance: Chuck Walker, Bo Curry, Jim Kline,

Danny Shanz, Chuck Hartzman. Other members in attendance include: Larry Yates, Alan Mullis, Greg Dice, Tim Cameron, B.J. Walsh, John Freeze, Larry Dodd, and John Sisson.

Treasurer’s Report: The bank balance for the NCBF is $21,774.00 as of 3/15/04.

After further discussion the Treasurer (Jim Kline) requested the following changes to be made effective immediately: “All membership applications and tournament applications along with payments are now to be sent to the Treasurer”. All the applications will be corrected with the Treasurer’s address listed. The website will also be updated to reflect this change. Jim Kline’s address is 1106 W Washington Street, Hagerstown, Md. 21740 (301) 791-3724.

Old Business

Youth Clubs: Alan Mullis turned over to Chuck Walker the Youth Club Charters from the previous year.

Trout Pond:    The trout pond was constructed on 28 Feb 2004 at the Woodsboro plant. Tim Cameron, Alan Mullis, Larry Yates, Danny Shanz, Greg Dice and Keith Wright, worked throughout the day to complete the project. The pond will hold 2000 gallons of water, requiring a water truck to fill it. Bo Curry is checking with the Montgomery County Fair Grounds on a plan to use the tank in August for the Sugarloaf Crafts Fair. Bo will report on his efforts. The trout pond will be used as a fund raising effort and as an official project. Tim Cameron reported on the need to make sure all assigned volunteers are actually going to be available to assist.

Tournaments: 1st Vice President Bo Curry has appointed B.J. Walsh as the 2004 Tournament Director. Bo reported on the status of the March 28th tournament, which led to a very serious discussion concerning the handling of applications and entry fees.

The discussion centered on having completed information prior to the draw deadline date, and a central location for all money to be collected. As a result of that discussion the changes mentioned in the treasurer’s report have been implemented.

For this tournament and this one only every effort will be made to pair all applicants by extending the March 12th deadline date so that all requirements can be met. With the exception of this tournament also, all money for the “Lunker Pot” will have to be sent in advance of the tournament draw date to the treasurer.

In the future ALL MEMBERSHIP AND TOURNAMENT REQUIREMENTS MUST BE MET BY THE DRAW CUT-OFF DATE. A MEMBER WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE IN THAT TOURNAMENT IF ALL REQUIREMENTS ARE NOT MET. This motion was made and passed.

2004 State Team: No report at this time.

Washington Boat Show:  This was a success for the NCBF because almost all of our volunteers assigned showed up. The show drew a very large number of residents throughout the region. The NCBF collected over 50 phone numbers and email addresses. All have been contacted.

Kelly Press: Chuck Walker reviewed the new brochures and found an error. Chuck has asked for corrections to be made to the next printing. Kelly Press donated the brochures to the Federation. Danny and Brian Kelly took the extra step in helping us out. A thank you letter has been sent to Kelly Press.

Boy Scout Troop: Richard Branscome, one of the Upper Montgomery County Boy Scout Troop leaders has been advised the NCBF will be there on Saturday, 22 May 2004.

This is an official NCBF event.

Battle Creek Cypress Nature Center:  A request has been made to help them take 12 to 14 teens fishing on the Potomac. The best dates are Saturday or Sunday July 24th or 25th or July 31st or Sunday, August 1st.  This request came through Ken Penrod. The board requested the Center reapply before the May Board meeting.

State Casting Kids Contest- Jim Kline and Debbie Muth held a CastingKids contest at the Police Academy on Saturday 6 March 2004 @ 11:00 am. Bo Curry, Seth Brohawn, Mike Muth, Nathan Routzahn, and Scott Peterson were officials at the event.
