NCBF 2002 Campout

7-29-02:  If you were one of the few that did not attend the youth campout you sure missed a good time. Most arrived by 10:00 and sat around talking the good times until the kids wanted to fish. We all than moved to the farm raised catfish pond and began to catch dinner. All the kids and most of the grownups caught fish. No one wanted top stop fishing so we sent Christy Mullis out for more worms. The fish were put on ice for Alan and Billy to clean later that afternoon. The kids went swimming while the adults set up camp. Most of the adults joined the kids swimming in the river while the rest of us started dinner. The menu consisted of pasta salad, potato salad, regular salad, hot dogs, hamburgers, beans, chips, cold slaw, corn on the cob, and some of the best deep fried catfish you have ever tasted.  After dark a bond fire was built to roast marsh mellows and make smores. The kids went on a treasure hunt to find the skull full of candy that they divided up. Around midnight the parents started making the kids settle down for the night. Debbie, Gail, Christy and Betty stayed up all night to keep an eye on things.  Around 7:AM Anita and Gene Grimes showed up with Scottish eggs. Several pounds of bacon and sausage links were fried and breakfast was served. Afterwards the kids went fishing and swimming while the adults started to break camp. This was a campout that truly brings family values to our youth and our parents. Thanks to all that came out and we hope to see you next year. A special thanks to PEPSI for supplying all the drinks and water and the Bowlings for the use of the farm! We will be holding the seniors fishing tournament at the Bowling farm on October 5th. We will be going down the weekend before to catch the catfish for their lunch. Give Alan or Debbie a call if you plan to make it.
